Eumorphocorystes was named by Van Binkhorst (1857) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes T Ol-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Eumorphocorystes sculptus.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Notopodinae by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
