Taxonomy
Cancer (Romaleon) yanceyi was named by Nations (1975). Its type specimen is UCMP 10742, a claw, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP B-7727, Kettleman Hills, which is in a Piacenzian coastal siliciclastic in the San Joaquin Formation of California.
It was considered a nomen dubium by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000); it was recombined as Cancer yanceyi by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
