Taxonomy
Gastrodorus was named by von Meyer (1864) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-l]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Gastrodoroidea, Gastrodoridae.

It was reranked as Prosopon (Gastrodorus) by von Meyer (1864).

It was assigned to Prosopon by von Meyer (1864); to Homolidae by Feldmann and Schweitzer (2009); and to Gastrodoridae by van Bakel et al. (2008) and Schweitzer et al. (2010).
