Portunites macrospinus
Taxonomy
Portunites macrospinus was named by Schweitzer et al. (2000). Its type specimen is CM 45833, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pulali Point, Aldwell Formation, which is in an Eocene marine conglomerate/siltstone in the Aldwell Formation of Washington.
It was recombined as Megokkos macrospinus by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000), Nyborg et al. (2003), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Schweitzer et al. (2021).
