Leptoblattina exilis was named by Woodward (1887). It is an impression. Its type locality is Coseley, near Dudley (Johnson coll), which is in a Westphalian B interdistributary bay shale in the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Blattoidea exilis by Handlirsch (1906).
