Taxonomy
Hemioon was named by Bell (1863) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo-u]. Its type is Hemioon cunningtonii.
It was assigned to Ranininae by Collins and Wienberg Rasmussen (1992); to Raninidae by Glaessner (1980), Feldmann and Keys (1992) and Feldmann (1993); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Lyreidinae by Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Marylyreidinae by Karasawa et al. (2014) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
