Taxonomy
Cretaphormia fowleri was named by McAlpine (1970). Its type specimen is CNC 12671/817, a nymph (pupa), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Drumheller concretion, which is in a Campanian marginal marine ironstone in the Horseshoe Canyon Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Cretaphormia.
