Taxonomy
Hexapus was named by De Haan (1833) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Hexapodidae, Hexapodoidea.
It was assigned to Hexapodinae by Imaizumi (1959); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hexapodidae by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2001), Collins et al. (2003), Schweitzer (2005), Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Schweitzer et al. (2022).
It was assigned to Hexapodinae by Imaizumi (1959); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hexapodidae by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2001), Collins et al. (2003), Schweitzer (2005), Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Schweitzer et al. (2022).
