Plagioblatta campbelli was named by Handlirsch (1906). It is an impression. Its type locality is Moss Creek Road Cut, which is in a Westphalian D terrestrial shale/anthracite in the Pottsville Formation of Pennsylvania.
It was recombined as Polyetoblatta campbelli by Durden (1984).
