Taxonomy
Laleonectes was named by Manning and Chace (1990). It is extant. Its type is Neptunus vocans.

It was assigned to Atoportuninae by Karasawa et al. (2008), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Luque et al. (2017); and to Carupinae by Schweitzer et al. (2021).
