Taxonomy
Scylla costata was named by Rathbun (1919). Its type specimen is ANSP 2267, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lower half of Yaqui del Norte River valley, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene marine siliciclastic in the Dominican Republic.
