Knebelia was named by Van Straelen (1922) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Eryon bilobatus.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eryonidae by Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Feldmann et al. (2013).
