Liocaris was named by Beurlen (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo]. It is not extant. Its type is Liocaris quadratus.
It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002) and Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Pygocephalomorpha by Pazinato et al. (2016).
