Xanthilites alabamensis
Taxonomy
Xanthilites alabamensis was named by Rathbun (1935). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Prairie Creek and Pine Barren section / Prairie Creek and Allenton, which is in a Thanetian marine horizon in Alabama. It is the type species of Paraverrucoides.
It was recombined as Paraverrucoides alabamensis by Schweitzer (2003), Vega et al. (2007), Armstrong et al. (2009), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Martínez-Díaz et al. (2017), Luque et al. (2017) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
