Taxonomy
Lithophylax was named by Milne-Edwards and Brocchi (1879) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Lithophylacidae.
It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Carcineretidae by Schweitzer et al. (2003) and Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006); and to Lithophylacidae by Guinot and Breton (2006), Karasawa et al. (2008) and Schweitzer et al. (2010).
