Taxonomy
Longusorbis was named by Richards (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u Sepkoski's reference number: 961]. It is not extant. Its type is Longusorbis cuniculosus. It is the type genus of Longusorbiidae.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Carcineretidae by Schweitzer et al. (2003) and Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006); and to Longusorbiidae by Karasawa et al. (2008), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Luque et al. (2017).
