Taxonomy
Laevicarcinus dockeryi was named by Blow and Manning (1996). Its type specimen is USNM 484579, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 26883, Martin Marietta Berkeley quarry, which is in a Lutetian carbonate limestone in the Santee Formation of South Carolina.
