Trapezia was named by Latreille (1825). It is extant. It is the type genus of Trapeziidae.
It was assigned to Eriphinae by Dana (1851); to Trapeziinae by Karasawa (1993); and to Trapeziidae by Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006) and Schweitzer et al. (2010).
