Meyeria was named by M'Coy (1849) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut K Camp-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1037]. Its type is Astacus ornatus.
It was assigned to Astacidae by Rathbun (1926); to Glypheidae by Rathbun (1935); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Mecochiridae by Feldmann et al. (1993), Feldmann et al. (1995), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Feldmann et al. (2015) and Charbonnier et al. (2023).
