Taxonomy
Xanthosia socialis was named by van Bakel et al. (2005). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Munsterland Basin NW Germany, which is in a Campanian marine marl in Germany.

It was recombined as Secretanella socialis by Schweitzer et al. (2012).
