Taxonomy
Orbitoplax plafkeri was named by Tucker and Feldmann (1990). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kayak Island, Poul Creek FM., Alaska, which is in an Oligocene/Miocene offshore sandstone/siltstone in the Poul Creek Formation of Alaska. It is the type species of Orbitoplax.
