Taxonomy
Palaeomunidopsis was named by Van Straelen (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo]. It is not extant. Its type is Gastrosacus moutieri.

It was assigned to Munidopsinae by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Galatheidae by Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Munidopsidae by Klompmaker et al. (2022).
