Paraclythia was named by Fritsch and Kafka (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo K Sn]. It is not extant. Its type is Paraclythia nephropica.
It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nephropidae by Tshudy and Sorhannus (2000), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Feldmann et al. (2016).
