Valeseguya was named by Colless (1990). It is extant. It is the type genus of Valeseguyinae.

It was assigned to Mycetobiinae by Grimaldi (1991); to Valeseguyinae by Amorim and Tozoni (1994); and to Valeseguyidae by Amorim and Grimaldi (2006).
