Apotypoma longa was named by Handlirsch (1906). It is an impression. Its type locality is Krinich Pit in Nurschan, which is in a Stephanian C/Asselian terrestrial /coal in the Nurschan Coal seam Formation of the Czech Republic. It is the type species of Apotypoma.
