Sandomingia was named by Rathbun (1919) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Sandomingia yaquiensis.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Podophthalminae by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
