Taxonomy
Protogryllus lanceolatus was named by Handlirsch (1939). Its type specimen is GPI EMAU 123/11, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.
It was recombined as Protochaeta lanceolata by Ansorge (1996).
