Taxonomy
Stephanometopon was named by Bosquet (1854) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1225]. It is not extant. Its type is Stephanometopon granulatum.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Dynomenidae by Schweitzer et al. (2003) and Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Dromiacea by Schweitzer et al. (2012).
