Styrioplax was named by Glaessner (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi]. It is not extant. Its type is Microplax exiguus.
It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Xanthoidea by Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006) and Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Rhizopinae by Hyžný and Schlögl (2011) and Schweitzer et al. (2022).
