Udora was named by Munster (1839) [Sepkoski's age data: J Call-l J Tith-l Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant. Its type is Udora brevispina.

It was assigned to Caridea by Glaessner (1969); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Procaridoidea by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
