Taxonomy
Uncina was named by Quenstedt (1851) [Sepkoski's age data: J Toar-l Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant. Its type is Uncina posidoniae. It is the type genus of Uncinidae.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Uncinidae by Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Feldmann et al. (2016).
