Taxonomy
Mesobittacus minutus was named by Handlirsch (1939). Its type specimen is GPI EMAU 123/66, a wing (fragment), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.
It was recombined as Neorthophlebia minuta by Willmann (1978).
