Hesslerella was named by Schram (1970) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Hesslerella shermani.

It was assigned to Palaeophreatoicidae by Schram (1974); and to Isopoda by Sepkoski (2002).
