Taxonomy
Macropeza liasina was named by Geinitz (1884). Its type specimen is GPI EMAU 119/12, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.
It was recombined as Protoplecia liasina by Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1939) and Ansorge (1996).
