Misionella didicostae was named by Penney (2005). Its type specimen is # not stated, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Museo del Amber Dominicano coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
