Taxonomy
Eucritta melanolimnetes was named by Clack (1998). It is not extant. Its type locality is East Kirkton Quarry, which is in a Visean terrestrial limestone in the Bathgate Hills Volcanic Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Eucritta.
