Kiaeria was named by Glebowskaja (1949) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl-u S Prid]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Kiaeriidae.
It was assigned to Kiaeriidae by Størmer (1955); to Kiaeridae by Bergström (1975); to Isochilinidae by Berdan (1984); and to Leperditicopida by Sepkoski (2002).
