Anser condoni was named by Shufeldt (1891). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Silver Lake, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Oregon.
It was synonymized subjectively with Sthenelides paloregonus by Howard (1946); it was synonymized subjectively with Cygnus paloregonus by Brodkorb (1964).
