Taxonomy
Bassariscus minimus was named by Baskin (2004). Its type specimen is F:AM 49099, a mandible (left mandible with m1-m2 and roots of p4), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Observation Quarry, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in Nebraska.
