Acridites goldenbergi was named by Kliver (1886). It is an impression. Its type locality is Spoil heap from construction of flotz 2, Steinbach valley, which is in a Westphalian D lacustrine deltaic claystone in the Flöz Zweibänke Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Pseudoacridites goldenbergi by Handlirsch (1906) and Guthörl (1934).
