Taxonomy
Scalaeoptera recta was named by Bolton (1922). Its type specimen is BMNH I. 13878, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Coseley, near Dudley (Neil coll), which is in a Westphalian B interdistributary bay siliciclastic in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Scalaeoptera.
