Taxonomy
Stobbsia was named by Handlirsch (1908). Its type is Stobbsia woodwardiana.

It was synonymized subjectively with Breyeria by Bolton (1921).

It was assigned to Lithomantidae by Handlirsch (1919) and Handlirsch (1922); and to Breyeriidae by Laurentiaux (1953), Carpenter (1992) and Prokop et al. (2013).
