Simia cristata was named by Raffles (1821) [original spelling is certainly cristata and not cristatus, contra Miller 1942]. It is extant.
It was recombined as Semnopithecus cristatus by Müller (1835); it was recombined as Presbytis cristatus by Miller (1903); it was recombined as Pygathrix cristata by Lyon (1911); it was recombined as Trachypithecus pyrrhus cristatus by Pocock (1928); it was recombined as Pithecus pyrrhus cristatus by Chasen (1940); it was recombined as Presbytis cristata by Miller (1942); it was recombined as Trachypithecus cristatus by Washburn (1944), Hooijer (1962), Hooijer (1962), Ruff (2003), Osterholz et al. (2008) and Harding (2010).
