Taxonomy
Leiocyamus was named by Martinsson (1956) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl S Prid]. It is the type genus of Leiocyaminae.

It was assigned to Leiocyaminae by Martinsson (1956) and Benson et al. (1961); and to Palaeocopida by Sepkoski (2002).
