It was recombined as Bathyergus suillus by Allen (1895) and Honeycutt et al. (1987).

Synonyms
  • Mus maritimus was named by Gmelin (1788). It is extant.

    It was recombined as Myotalpa maritima by Kerr (1792); it was synonymized subjectively with Bathyergus suillus by Allen (1895).
