Ordovizona was named by Schallreuter (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-m O Ashg-u Sepkoski's reference number: 855]. It is the type genus of Ordovizonidae.
It was assigned to Palaeocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ordovizonidae by Ghobadi Pour et al. (2006).
