Taxonomy
Dromiciops gliroides was named by Thomas (1894). It is extant. Its type specimen is BM(NH) 92.5.9.3, an other (skin and skull). It is the type species of Dromiciops.

It was synonymized subjectively with Dromiciops australis by Marshall (1982).
