Taxonomy
Prototitan similis was named by Sharov (1968). Its type specimen is PIN 2555/1481, a wing (pair of fore & hindwings also legs), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Madygen, PIN collection 2555, Dzhailoucho area, which is in a Ladinian lacustrine - small siliciclastic in the Madygen Formation of Kyrgyzstan.
It was recombined as Mesotitanodes similis by Gorochov (2003).
