Rhinochelys pulchriceps
Taxonomy
Chelone pulchriceps was named by Owen (1842). Its type specimen is CAMSM B55775, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Near Barnwell, which is in an Albian open shallow subtidal marl in the West Melbury Marly Chalk Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Rhinochelys.
It was recombined as Rhinochelys pulchriceps by Lydekker (1889), Lydekker (1889), Collins (1970) and Karl et al. (2012).
