Palinurus regleyanus was named by Desmarest (1822). It is not extant. It is the type species of Glyphea.
It was recombined as Glyphea regleyana by von Meyer (1840), Étallon (1859), Carter (1886), Schweitzer et al. (2009), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Feldmann et al. (2015) and Chény et al. (2023).
